Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru "La Toppe au Vert"

This premier cru Aloxe-Corton from the Côte de Beaune is similar in style to a Côte de Nuits wine, given its density and depth.

0.30 hectares of vines planted in 1965.
This plot is in the heart of the village of Ladoix-Serrigny at the foot of the southeast-facing side of the Corton hill, below Corton Vergennes.
The vines grow on shallow, pebbly soils comprising limestone and fine clay. These Comblanchian limestones produce pure and very elegant wines.
Harvesting is manual and entirely destemmed.
3 weeks of fermentation with a very moderate intervention and few pigeage.
30% new oak barrels are used for an aging period of 20 months.
Pinot Noir : 100%

Tasting notes
The 2020 Aloxe-Corton La Toppe Au Vert 1er Cru has a delightful bouquet with red cherries, crushed strawberry and the limestone terroir lending fine delineation and freshness. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red berry fruit, gentle grip, quite structured towards the peppery finish (thanks to the 40% whole bunch) but eases off on the aftertaste.
