Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru "Aux Charmes"

Presentation

The vintage
1650 bottles, 72 magnums and 3 jeroboams have been produced for the vintage 2018.
Location
This plot of 0.3 hectares was planted in 1954 and is located on the upper part of the Charmes-Chambertin terroir known as “Aux Charmes”. Running alongside the Route des Grands Crus between Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, this plot is opposite the border between Latricières Chambertin and Chambertin itself.
Terroir
Its singular geology composed of Jurassic marl and limestone results in wines with unique finesse and generosity. It is usually vinified with around 70% in whole bunches to foster tension and freshness in the wine.
Winemaking
Harvesting is manual with 60% whole clusters.
3 weeks fermentation with a very light extraction.
Ageing
50% of new oak barrels are used for an aging period of 20 months.

Tasting
Always shows a beautiful elegance and a great purity. This wine is characterized by its roundness and complexity with a longer finish and a little different kind of freshness compared to the beginning of the mouth.
