Clos-Vougeot Grand Cru

The diversity of the terroir gives rise to a rich and dense wine that is closer to the roundness and sophistication of a Vosne-Romanée than the power of a Clos-Vougeot from the northern part of the appellation

Presentation

Location
0.75 hectares of vines, 40% of which were planted in 1992 and 60% in 1944. Our plot is located in the southern part of the appellation, at the angle of the wall separating Les Echézeaux from Clos-Vougeot in the lieu dit of Les Baudes Basses.
Terroir
Its originality stems from the length of the rows which extend over 200 meters across three different soil types:
- Pebbly soil with a high proportion of clay
- Soil comprising small pebbles with a high proportion of red clay rich in
iron oxide
- A finer clay-silt soil

In the Bourgogne winegrowing region, we often talk of a “rounded” cuvée because it includes all the soil types one finds in the appellation.
Varietal
Pinot Noir : 100%

Advice

Tasting
This is a long and dense wine that requires patience before it fully expresses itself.
