Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "Le Clos du Prieuré"

Presentation

The vintage
2628 bottles, 144 magnums have been produced for the vintage 2018.
Location
1.1 hectares of vines planted in 1986 on high Côte de Nuits plots in the village of Arcenant, 10km to the west of Nuits-Saint-Georges. This plot faces due south and is steeply sloping (around 40%) at 450 meters above sea level.
Terroir
The soil comprises white and limestone marl, similar to that found in Corton Charlemagne.
This is the last plot to be harvested as it requires more time to fully ripen.
Vinification
Harvesting is manual with 50% of whole clusters.
3 weeks of fermentation with very light extraction.
Ageing
30% of new oak barrels are used for an aging period of 18 months.

This plot produces Hautes Côtes de Nuits wines that are yielding and with depth, and always with wonderful maturity.
