Clos-Vougeot Grand Cru

We often evocate in Burgundy: “the round cuvée” because it takes up all the types of soils that we can find on the appellation.

Presentation

Presentation
This diversity of terroirs gives a rich and dense wine, much closer to the roundness and finesse of Vosne-Romanée than the powerful of the classic Clos-Vougeot from the north of the appellation.
The vintage
2052 bottles, 120 magnums and 6 jeroboams have been produced for the vintage 2018.
Location
0.75 ha planted in 1948.
The plot of the estate is located in the southern part of the appellation, at the corner of the wall separating the Echézeaux and Clos-Vougeot.
Terroir
Its originality lies in the length of its rows - 200 meters - on three different soils:
- first a stony soil with an important limestone-clay ratio,
- then a soil with small stones and a high proportion of clay,
- finally a finer soil with clays and silts.
This diversity of terroirs gives a rich and dense wine, much closer to the roundness and finesse of Vosne-Romanée than to the power of the Clos-Vougeot of the north of the appellation. In Burgundy, we often speak of a round cuvée because it takes in all the soil types that we can find in the appellation.

Advice

Tasting
It has an intriguing bouquet with brown spices and black pepper infusing the vibrant red fruit that leaps from the nose. The palate is well balanced with fine, saturated tannins. The 40% of whole bunch is very well assimilated and lends complexity and precision on the finish.
